Test N: The Air Bag Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On
PINPOINT TEST N: THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ONNormal Operation
The restraints control module (RCM) is hardwired to the instrument cluster (IC) through control circuit 1632 (TN/LB). The instrument cluster (IC) monitors the air bag warning lamp control circuit for a ground signal. The instrument cluster (IC) turns off the air bag warning indicator when it receives a ground signal from the RCM on circuit 1632 (TN/LB). During prove-out and when the RCM detects a concern, the RCM removes the ground on circuit 1623 (TN/LB) and the instrument cluster (IC) turns on the air bag warning indicator.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- RCM
- Instrument cluster (IC)
