Test U: The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On

PINPOINT TEST U: THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

Normal Operation
The instrument cluster (IC) receives the TPMS messages from the vehicle security module (VSM) over the communication network. The VSM monitors and compares each tire pressure sensor reading against a low-pressure limit. If the VSM determines that the tire pressure has fallen below this limit, the VSM communicates this to the instrument cluster (IC). The instrument cluster (IC) illuminates the TPMS indicator and displays the appropriate message(s) in the message center (if equipped). If a TPMS fault condition exists, the VSM sends a message to the instrument cluster (IC) to flash the TPMS warning indicator before turning it on solid.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Tire pressure
- TPMS concern
- VSM
- Instrument cluster (IC)
