Test B: The Key-In-Ignition Warning Chime Is Inoperative
PINPOINT TEST B: THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME IS INOPERATIVENormal Operation
When the key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder, the key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch) closes and provides voltage to the instrument cluster (IC) on circuit 158 (BK/PK). The voltage input signals the instrument cluster (IC) that the key is inserted. If the instrument cluster (IC) detects that the ignition lock cylinder is in the OFF position with the key inserted in the ignition cylinder and the driver door is ajar, the key-in-ignition warning chime sounds.
- DTC B1352 (Ignition Key-In Circuit Failure) - sets on-demand if the instrument cluster (IC) detects an open or short to ground (no voltage) on the key-in-ignition input, circuit 158 (BK/PK).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Key-in-ignition warning switch (part of the ignition switch)
- Instrument cluster (IC)
