Principles of Operation
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATIONThe daytime running lamps (DRL) operates by using the low beams at a reduced voltage. This is accomplished by using a DRL resistor in series with the low beam filaments. When the high beams are on, the DRL relay is energized interrupting the voltage to the DRL resistor. When the headlamp switch is in the HEADLAMPS ON position and the multifunction switch in the LOW BEAM position, the low beam filaments receive 100% system voltage from the multifunction switch.
