Tests AG: The Daytime Running Lamps Are On With The Ignition Switch Off

PINPOINT TEST AG: THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS ARE ON WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF

Normal Operation
Battery voltage is supplied to the daytime running lamp (DRL) enable relay switch side through circuit 2017 (WH/RD). When the ignition switch is in the RUN/START positions, voltage is provided through circuit 295 (LB/PK) to the DRL enable relay coil. Ground for the DRL enable relay is provided through circuit 57 (BK).

When the DRL enable relay is energized, voltage is routed to the DRL relay through circuit 1731 (RD/BK). Voltage routes through the DRL relay (when it is not energized) to the DRL resistor through circuit 471 (OG/LG). Voltage is reduced as it passes through the DRL resistor to circuit 13 (RD/BK) (low beam headlamps voltage supply circuit). The DRL relay coil receives voltage from circuit 12 (LG/BK) when the high beams are illuminated, which interrupts the voltage to the DRL resistor. The DRL relay is provided ground through circuit 57 (BK).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- DRL enable relay
- CJB
