Test H: The Autolamps Are On Continuously
PINPOINT TEST H: THE AUTOLAMPS ARE ON CONTINUOUSLYNormal Operation
With the headlamp switch turned to the AUTOLAMPS ON position, a battery voltage signal is sent to the vehicle security module (VSM) through circuit 220 (VT/OG). The VSM monitors the input from the light sensor through circuit 218 (WH/VT). The VSM then determines the amount of ambient light based on the input received from the light sensor.
When the ambient level has reached a point (determined by the internal programming of the VSM), 2 internal relays (parking lamp and headlamp) are energized to supply voltage to the exterior lamps. Circuit 196 (DB/OG) supplies voltage to the internal headlamp relay, which then routes voltage to circuit 15 (RD/YE) when energized. Circuit 195 (TN/WH) supplies voltage to an internal parking lamp relay, which then routes voltage to circuit 14 (BN) when energized.
- DTC B1695 (Autolamp On Circuit Short to Battery) - is an on-demand DTC that sets when the VSM detects a short to voltage on the autolamp on input circuit.
- DTC B1792 (Autolamp Sensor Input Circuit Short to Battery) - is a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the VSM detects an open or short to voltage on the autolamp sensor input circuit.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Light sensor
- Headlamp switch
- VSM
