Test O: One Turn Signal/Hazard Lamp Is Inoperative/Always On
PINPOINT TEST O: ONE TURN SIGNAL/HAZARD LAMP IS INOPERATIVE/ALWAYS ONNormal Operation
The multifunction switch provides voltage to the turn signal lamps depending on the position of the multifunction switch.
When the multifunction switch is placed in the RH TURN position, current flows from the multifunction switch to the RH front turn signal indicator and RH signal mirror through circuit 2 (WH/LB).
When the multifunction switch is placed into the LH TURN position, current flows from the multifunction switch to the LH front turn signal indicator and LH signal mirror through circuit 3 (LG/WH).
Circuit grounds for each turn signal bulb and signal mirror are accomplished through circuit 57 (BK). The timed on/off cycle is determined in the indicator flasher relay and is set to flash approximately 80 times per minute if both the front and rear indicators operate. If only one turn signal lamp operates, the indicator flasher relay flashes the lamps approximately 160 times per minute.
The rear lamps are combination stop/turn lamps. The rear turn lamp function utilizes the stoplamp circuitry.
NOTE: Vehicles equipped with trailer tow mirrors have a LED assembly that can be removed separately from the mirror assembly.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Multifunction switch
- Signal mirror LED assembly (if equipped)
- Signal mirror (if equipped)
