Test J: The Stoplamps Are On Continuously
PINPOINT TEST J: THE STOPLAMPS ARE ON CONTINUOUSLYNormal Operation
When the brake pedal is applied, the stoplamp switch routes voltage to the smart junction box (SJB), the 4X4 control module, the PCM and the stoplamp isolation relay (coil side) through circuit CCB08 (VT/WH).
The SJB provides voltage to the rear lamps when it receives input from the stoplamp switch indicating that the brake pedal is applied.
When the stoplamp isolation relay is energized (brake pedal applied), voltage is routed to the high mounted stoplamp and the trailer brake control module (factory equipment) or the trailer electric brake controller (aftermarket) through circuit CLS43 (YE/GN).
- DTC B1485 (Brake Pedal Input Short to Battery) - is an on-demand DTC that sets when the SJB detects a short to voltage from the stoplamp switch input circuit.
- DTC B2045 (Left Rear Stop Lamp Circuit Open) - is an on-demand DTC that sets when the SJB detects a short to voltage on the LH rear stop/turn lamp voltage supply circuit.
- DTC B2047 (Right Rear Stop Lamp Circuit Open) - is an on-demand DTC that sets when the SJB detects a short to voltage on the RH rear stop/turn lamp voltage supply circuit.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Stoplamp isolation relay
- Stoplamp switch
- Trailer brake control module (factory equipment)
- Trailer electric brake controller (aftermarket)
- 4X4 control module
- PCM
- SJB
