Clear the Continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and Reset the Emission Monitors Information In the Powertrain Control Modu
CLEAR THE CONTINUOUS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) AND RESET THE EMISSION MONITORS INFORMATION IN THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)The clearing of continuous DTCs allows the scan tool to command the PCM to clear/reset all emission-related diagnostic information. While carrying out this operation, DTC P1000 is stored in the PCM until all the OBD system monitors or components have been tested to satisfy a drive cycle without any other concerns occurring. For additional information about a drive cycle, refer to On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Drive Cycle. Clearing the DTCs from the vehicle-specific continuous memory DTC menu clears all systems, including the OBD systems. Clearing the DTCs from the OBD generic menu only clears OBD features. Drive Cycles
Description
The following events occur when the continuous DTCs and emission monitors information is cleared from the PCM:
- Clears the number of DTCs.
- Clears the DTCs.
- Clears the freeze frame data.
- Resets the status of the OBD system monitors.
- Sets DTC P1000 as a vehicle-specific DTC. DTC P1000 does not appear as an OBD DTC.
Refer to the scan tool manufacturer's manual for instructions.
Clearing the EGR and Fuel Injector Adaptive Tables (Late Build)
Clearing the EGR or fuel injector adaptive table is a scan tool function that resets the default PCM adaptive values. Resetting the keep alive memory (KAM) does not reset the adaptive values in the PCM. Reset the adaptive value tables when repairs are made on the fuel injection system or EGR system.
The clearing functions are located on the scan tool under the toolbox tab. Select Powertrain, Service Functions to access the Clear EGR Adaptive Tables function or the Clear Fuel Injector Adaptive Tables function. The clear adaptive tables function may not be supported by all scan tools. Refer to the scan tool manufacturer's manual for instructions.
