Fuel Filter - Secondary

FUEL FILTER - SECONDARY







Removal

WARNING:
- Do not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or have an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
- When handling fuel, always observe fuel handling precautions and be prepared in the event of fuel spillage. Spilled fuel may be ignited by hot vehicle components or other ignition sources. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.


1. Disconnect both battery ground cables.







2. NOTE: Clean all dirt and foreign material from the secondary fuel filter cap and surrounding area.

Remove the secondary fuel filter cap by turning the cap counterclockwise.

3. Remove the secondary fuel filter.
- Discard the secondary fuel filter.

4. Remove the O-ring seal from the secondary fuel filter cap.
- Discard the O-ring seal.

Installation
1. Carefully clean all mating surfaces.
2. Install a new O-ring seal onto the secondary fuel filter cap.
3. Install a new secondary fuel filter into the secondary fuel filter housing.







4. NOTE: Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal.

Slowly install the secondary fuel filter cap allowing the fuel to soak into the secondary fuel filter until it contacts the secondary fuel filter housing.

5. Tighten the secondary fuel filter cap.
- Tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).

6. Bleed the low pressure fuel system.
