Test L: The Low Fuel Warning Indicator Is Never On

PINPOINT TEST L: THE LOW FUEL WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER ON

Normal Operation
The low fuel warning indicator illuminates when the instrument cluster (IC) calculation for the distance to empty (DTE) reaches 80 km (50 miles) or less, or approximately 1/8th of the fuel capacity. The DTE is calculated internally by the instrument cluster (IC) from data received from the PCM and the fuel gauge. When the instrument cluster (IC) receives the data and determines that the remaining fuel is 80 km (50 miles) or less, the fuel gauge indicates low fuel and the instrument cluster (IC) turns on the low fuel warning indicator. If the instrument cluster (IC) detects a fault in the fuel input (circuitry or fuel pump module), the instrument cluster (IC) defaults the fuel gauge to the empty (E) stop position and turns on the low fuel warning indicator.

Possible Causes
