RATTLE/KNOCK/BUZZ NOISE FROM AIR INDUCTION
SYSTEM ON ACCELERATION

FORD:
2008 Focus

ISSUE
Some 2008 Focus vehicles equipped with the 2.0L non-PZEV emissions engine may exhibit a rattle/knock/buzz type noise on acceleration or during start up from the air filter housing area. The cause may be a foam sleeve isolator located on the air filter housing being miss positioned and allowing the 1/4 tuner to bottom out to the battery support bracket.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Inspect the foam isolator position and reposition, if necessary, to prevent the ground out condition.

2. Use the Motorcraft(R) Trim and Weatherstrip Adhesive or equivalent, to secure the foam isolator to prevent the foam sleeve from sliding off location. If the isolator is positioned properly and no ground condition is observed, perform normal diagnostics.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage
IMPORTANT: Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part.
