Power Transfer Unit (PTU)

Power Transfer Unit (PTU):

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Remove the driveshaft.
3. Remove the RH catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System.
4. Remove the 2 power transfer unit (PTU)-to- support bracket bolts, then remove the 3 PTU support bracket bolts and the PTU support bracket.





5. Remove the 5 PTU-to-transaxle bolts.





6. Separate the PTU from the transaxle. Remove the PTU from the vehicle.

7. NOTE: A new compression seal must be installed whenever the PTU is removed from the vehicle.

Using a suitable tool, remove the compression seal and discard.
