Fan Shroud: Service and Repair

Cooling Fan Shroud - 3.0L, 4.0L





Removal and Installation

All vehicles
1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt.

3.0L vehicles

3. NOTE: The fan clutch has a left-hand thread and must be rotated clockwise for removal.

Using the special tool and a standard 7/8-in wrench, remove the fan and fan clutch assembly and position it into the shroud.
^ To install, tighten to 54 Nm (40 lb-ft).





4.0L SOHC vehicles

4. NOTE: The fan clutch has a left-hand thread and must be rotated clockwise for removal.

Using the special tools, remove the fan and fan clutch assembly and position it inside the shroud.
^ To install, tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).





All vehicles
5. Remove the fan shroud bolts. Lift the fan and fan clutch assembly and the fan shroud together and remove from the vehicle.
^ To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-inch).
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
