Exhaust Manifold - LHOil Level Indicator and Tube and Support Brace:
LH Exhaust Manifold:
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Remove the exhaust flange nuts.
4. Remove the nut and the oil level indicator and tube assembly.
5. Remove the nut and the upper intake manifold support brace.
6. Detach the exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube from the exhaust manifold.
7. Remove the bolts, stud bolts, exhaust manifold and gasket.
^ Discard the bolts, stud bolts and exhaust manifold gasket.
8. Clean and inspect the exhaust manifold.
Installation
1. NOTE: Install a new exhaust manifold gasket, bolts and stud bolts.
Install the exhaust manifold gasket, exhaust manifold, bolts and stud bolts.
^ Tighten in the sequence shown in 2 stages:
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-inch).
^ Stage 2: Tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
2. Attach the exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube to the exhaust manifold.
^ Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
3. Install the upper intake manifold support brace and nut.
^ Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-inch).
4. NOTE: The end of the oil level indicator tube should be cleaned with metal surface prep before application of the sealant.
Install the oil level indicator and tube assembly.
^ Coat the oil level indicator tube with silicone gasket and sealant.
5. Install the oil level indicator tube bracket nut.
^ Tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).
6. Install the exhaust flange nuts.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
7. Connect the battery ground cable.
