Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair

SUCTION ACCUMULATOR

Removal and Installation

NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system, except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.

1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Disconnect the A/C cycling switch electrical connector.







3. CAUTION: Use a back-up wrench to prevent damage to the tubes.

Disconnect the suction accumulator inlet and outlet fittings.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
- To install, tighten the inlet fitting to 39 Nm (29 lb-ft)







4. Remove the suction accumulator bracket screws and the suction accumulator.







5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent.

6. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system.
