Axle Assembly:





Removal and Installation
1. Remove the axle shafts.
2. If equipped, remove the rear stabilizer bar.
3. Remove the driveshaft.
4. Disconnect the rear brake anti-lock sensor electrical connector and the wiring harness clips.





5. Disconnect the vent hose from the axle.





6. Separate the brake tubes from the retaining clips on the axle.





7. NOTE: Do not disconnect the brake tubes from the brake hose junction block.

Disconnect the brake hose junction block from the rear axle housing.
^ To install, tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).





8. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

Remove the 8 bolts and separate the 2 rear brake backing plates from the axle. Wire the assemblies aside.
^ To install, tighten to 41 Nm (30 lb-ft).





9. Position a suitable jack under the differential housing and strap it securely in place.





10. Remove the 2 lower shock absorber nuts and 2 bolts.
^ To install, tighten to 68 Nm (50 lb-ft).





11. Remove the 8 nuts, 4 rear axle U-bolts and the 2 rear spring plates.
^ To install, tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).





12. Lower the rear axle from the vehicle.
13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
