Removal and Installation
1. Remove the 8 screws and the tailgate access cover.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

2. Open the tailgate latch actuating rod retainer and disconnect the tailgate latch actuating rods from the tailgate latch remote control.
3. Disconnect the tailgate support cables from the pickup bed strikers.
4. Remove the 2 tailgate latch bolts.
- To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).

5. Position the tailgate latch aside.
6. Disconnect the tailgate latch actuating rod and remove the tailgate latch.

7. NOTE: Prior to installation, remove the slack in the tailgate latch release link by pulling the tailgate latch release link to the center of the tailgate. Close the tailgate latch rod retainer over the thread of the tailgate latch release link.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
