PINPOINT TEST C: THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TCS) OR INDICATOR LAMP IS NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY

-------------------------------------------------
C1 VERIFY BJB FUSE 79 (10A)

- Ignition OFF.
- Connect the scan tool.
- Ignition ON.
- Are DTCs B1317 and/or B1318 present?

Yes
REFER to Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems. Testing and Inspection

No
GO to C2.

-------------------------------------------------
C2 CHECK THE TCS STATUS

- Monitor the TCS_STATE and TCS_DEPRESS PIDs.
- Cycle the Transmission Control Switch (TCS).
- Does the TCS_STATE and TCS_DEPRESS PIDs change status?

Yes
GO to C3.

No
GO to C4.

-------------------------------------------------
C3 CHECK THE TCS INDICATOR LAMP

- Cycle the TCS and observe the O/D icon on the Instrument Cluster (IC).
- Does the O/D OFF icon change status?

Yes
System OK. ROAD TEST the vehicle and TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.

-------------------------------------------------
C4 CHECK THE TCS FOR VOLTAGE

- Disconnect: C2135.
- Check to make sure the selector lever harness C2135 is fully seated, the pins are fully engaged in connectors and are in good condition before proceeding.
- Measure the voltage between selector lever harness C2135-B, circuit CBB79 (VT/WH) and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to C5.

No
REPAIR circuit CBB79 (VT/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C5 CHECK CIRCUIT CET34 (BN/GN) FOR AN OPEN

- Measure the voltage between TCS C2135-B and TCS C2135-C, component side.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to C6.

No
REPAIR circuit CET34 (BN/GN) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C6 CHECK CIRCUIT CET34 (BN/GN) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

- Disconnect: PCM C175B.
- Disconnect: PCM C1551T for 6.8L Engines.
- Check to make sure the PCM connector is fully seated, the pins are fully engaged in the connectors and are in good condition before proceeding.
- Measure the resistance between transmission selector lever harness C2135-C, circuit CET34 (BN/GN) and ground.

- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
REPLACE the TCS. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR circuit CET34 (BN/GN) for a short to ground. If no short to ground is found, REPLACE the PCM. TEST the system for normal operation.
