Test AW: Intake Air Temperature (IAT)/Intake Air Temperature 2 (IAT2) Sensor Correlation

PINPOINT TEST AW: INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT)/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE 2 (IAT2) SENSOR CORRELATION

Flow Chart:

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Harness circuits: IAT2, and SIGRTN
- IAT2 sensor
- Powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650)

-----------------------------------------------
AW1 : PRELIMINARY DIAGNOSIS FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P2199

- Retrieve and record all DTCs
- Record the freeze frame data
- Is DTC P2199 present?

-----------------------------------------------
AW2 : DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P2199

- Ignition OFF.
- Cold soak the vehicle overnight
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Access the PCM and monitor the IAT PID.
- Access the PCM and monitor the IAT2 PID.
- Are both temperature readings within 6°C (10°F) of ambient temperature?

-----------------------------------------------
AW3 : CHECK KOER IAT AND IAT 2 VALUES

- Ignition ON, engine running.
- Access the PCM and monitor the IAT PID.
- Access the PCM and monitor the IAT2 PID.
- Are the sensor values within 40°C (104°F) of each other?

-----------------------------------------------
AW4 : CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION

- Disconnect all the PCM connectors.
- Visually inspect for:
- pushed out pins
- corrosion

- Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Carry out the PCM self-test and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
