TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL MODULE - DTC C2806 -
BUILT BEFORE 1211/2008

2009 F-150

ISSUE
Some 2009 F-150 vehicles equipped with factory trailer brake controller, built before 12/1/2008, may exhibit a wiring fault on trailer warning in the message center with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C2806 stored in the trailer brake control module. This may be caused by the trailer tow wiring harness.

ACTION
Refer to the following Service Procedure to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Replace the trailer tow harness. Refer to the parts list at the end of this article for part information.

2. Verify that each connector of the new wiring harness is lubricated with electrical grease. Apply a liberal amount of Motorcraft� Electrical Grease if required.

3. Inspect vehicle harness connection point (backside) of the 7/4-pin trailer tow connector. Replace the 7/4-pin trailer tow connector if corrosion is present
