Pinpoint Test F: DTC U0140:87, U0155:87

Normal Operation
- DTC U0140:87 (Lost Communication With Body Control Module: Missing Message) - set by the Parking Aid Module (PAM) if data messages received from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) are missing for 5 seconds.
- DTC U0155:87 (Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Control Module: Missing Message) - set by the PAM if data messages received from the Instrument Cluster (IC) over the MS-CAN are missing for 5 seconds.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Module communication
- IC
- SJB



PINPOINT TEST F: DTC U0140:87, U0155:87

F1 VERIFY CUSTOMER CONCERN


- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
- Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to F2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

F2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK


- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
- Carry out the network test.
- Does the IC and SJB pass the network test?

Yes
GO to F3.

No
REFER to Information Bus.

F3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE SELF-TEST


- Check for recorded PAM DTCs from the self-test.
- Is DTC U3003:16 or U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
For DTC U3003:16, Go To Pinpoint Test c. Pinpoint Test C: U3003:16

For DTC U3003:17, Go To Pinpoint Test d. Pinpoint Test D: U3003:17

No
GO to F4.

F4 RECHECK THE PAM DTCs


NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may have been incorrectly set during Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the PMI may not have been carried out.

- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the PAM self-test.
- Are DTC U0140:87 or U0155:87 still present?

Yes
For DTC U0140:87, INSTALL a new SJB. TEST the system for normal operation. REPEAT the PAM self-test.

For DTC U0155:87, INSTALL a new IC. TEST the system for normal operation. REPEAT the PAM self-test.

If DTC U0140:87 or U0155:87 are still present, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to Parking Aid Module (PAM) Service and Repair.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or intermittent fault condition.
