Pinpoint Test E: The Door Lock Control Switch Or The Roof Opening Panel Switch Illumination is Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 71, Cluster and Panel Illumination for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
When the accessory delay relay energizes, voltage is supplied to the door lock control switches and the roof opening panel switch through circuit CBP41 (BU), turning on the switch illumination. Switch illumination is grounded for the door lock switches through circuits GD133 (BK) and GD145 (BK/BU). Switch illumination for the roof opening panel switch is grounded through circuit CPR39 (VT/WH).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Door lock switch
- Roof opening panel switch
PINPOINT TEST E: THE DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH OR THE ROOF OPENING PANEL SWITCH ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
-------------------------------------------------
E1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE DOOR LOCKS SWITCH OR THE ROOF OPENING PANEL SWITCH
- Operate the door locks or the roof opening panel switch from the suspect switch.
- Do the door locks or the roof opening panel operate?
Yes
GO to E2.
No
For the door locks, REFER to Locks.
For the roof opening panel, REFER to Sunroof / Moonroof.
-------------------------------------------------
E2 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP41 (BU) FOR VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Suspect Switch.
- Ignition ON.
- For the door lock control switch, measure the voltage between the driver door lock control switch C541-3, circuit CBP41 (BU), harness side and ground; or between the passenger door lock control switch C605-3, circuit CBP41 (BU), harness side and ground.
- For the roof opening panel switch, measure the voltage between the roof opening panel control switch C912-2, circuit CBP41 (BU), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
For the door lock control switch, INSTALL a new door lock control switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
For the roof opening panel switch, INSTALL a new overhead console. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
