Automatic Transmission Dipstick - Dipstick Tube: Service and Repair

Transmission Filler Tube





Removal

1. Remove the engine cover.

2. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator.





3. Remove the transmission filler tube nut at the cylinder head.





4. Remove the transmission filler tube nut at the intake manifold.





5. Remove the transmission filler tube.





6. Remove and discard the transmission filler tube O-ring.





Installation

1. Install a new transmission filler tube O-ring.





2. NOTE: Coat the O-ring at the bottom of the transmission filler tube with transmission fluid.

Install the transmission filler tube.





3. Install the transmission filler tube nut on the cylinder head.
- For 5.4L engines, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

- For 6.8L engines, tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).

- For 6.0L engines, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).





4. Install the transmission filter tube vent on the intake manifold.
- For 5.4L and 6.8L engines, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

- For 6.0L engines, tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb-in).

5. Install the transmission fluid level indicator.





6. Install the engine cover.
