Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor

Removal and Installation

1. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL). For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

2. NOTICE: Do not tamper with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensing elements located in the airflow meter. Tampering can result in unit failure.

Open the ACL.

- Release the air box clamp.

- Separate the inlet side from the outlet side of the ACL.

3. Release the latches and remove the Mass Air Flow (MAF) assembly.

4. NOTE: The red clip must be pulled out before disconnecting the electrical connector.

Disconnect the MAF sensor electrical connector.

5. Remove the 2 screws and MAF sensor.
- To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).

6. NOTE: The grommet used to seal the ACL housing at the extension harness must be fully seated. Failure to do so will result in unmetered air entering the engine.

NOTE: Use the alignment notch to correctly align the inlet side and the outlet side of the ACL.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
