Fuel Lines




Fuel Lines - 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L

Aft-of-Axle Fuel Tank

Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

2. Remove the engine cover.

3. Disconnect the fuel supply tube-to-fuel rail quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

4. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube-to-Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge valve quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

5. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector and remove pushpin retainer from fuel supply tube and fuel vapor tube bracket.





6. Remove the fuel supply tube and fuel vapor tube bracket bolt from the transmission bellhousing.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

7. Remove the 3 LH catalytic converter heat shield bolts and position heat shield aside.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).





Midship fuel tank

8. Remove the fuel tank. For additional information, refer to Fuel Tank - Midship Fuel Tank - Midship.

9. Disconnect the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) electrical connector.





10. Disconnect the rear fuel vapor tubes-to-FTP sensor and center vapor tube quick connect couplings. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.





Aft-of-axle fuel tank

11. Remove the EVAP canister. For additional information, refer to Evaporative Emissions System.

12. Disconnect the fuel supply tube-to-Fuel Pump (FP) module and the fuel vapor tube-to-fuel tank vapor valve quick connect couplings. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

All vehicles

13. Disconnect the front fuel supply tube-to-center fuel supply tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

14. Disconnect the center fuel vapor tube-to-front fuel vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

15. Disconnect the front fuel supply tube and fuel vapor tube from the position retainer on the frame and remove from the vehicle.

16. NOTE: Position retainers quantities will vary by wheelbase.

Disconnect the center fuel supply tube and fuel vapor tube from the position retainers on the frame and remove each line separately from the vehicle.

Aft-of-axle fuel tanks

17. Disconnect the rear fuel supply tube and fuel vapor tube from the 2 position retainers on the frame and remove each line separately from the vehicle.

All vehicles

18. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
