Throttle Body Spacer: Service and Repair




Throttle Body - Spacer













Removal

WARNING: Do not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or have an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

1. Remove the Throttle Body (TB). For additional information, refer to Throttle Body Service and Repair.

2. Disconnect the vacuum hose and the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) hose quick connect coupling from the TB spacer. For additional information on the quick connect coupling, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.





3. Disconnect the PCV tube from the TB spacer heater element.

4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the TB spacer.

5. Remove the 2 PCV heater element screws.

6. Remove the PCV heater element.

7. Inspect the O-ring seal and discard if damaged.

8. Remove the 3 bolts, the stud bolt and the TB spacer.
- Remove and discard the TB spacer gasket.

Installation

1. Install a new TB spacer gasket. Install the TB spacer and the 4 fasteners. Tighten the studbolt and the 3 bolts in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.

2. Install the PCV heater element.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.

3. Install the 2 PCV heater element screws.

4. Connect the vacuum hose to the TB spacer.

5. Connect the PCV tube to the TB spacer heater element.

6. Connect the vacuum hose and the EVAP hose quick connect coupling to the TB spacer. For additional information on the quick connect coupling, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.





7. Install the TB. For additional information, refer to Throttle Body Service and Repair.
