Pinpoint Test F: The Roof Opening Panel Does Not Open or Close in the VENT Position

The roof opening panel motor must be initialized whenever the roof opening sliding glass panel motor has been removed from the roof opening panel system, the roof opening panel module assembly has been removed from the vehicle, a new roof opening sliding glass panel motor has been installed or a new roof opening panel module assembly has been installed. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization Programming and Relearning.

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 101, Roof Opening Panel for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The roof opening panel uses an integrated motor and module to operate the roof opening panel sliding glass.

The roof opening sliding glass panel motor receives voltage from the accessory delay relay through circuit CBP41 (BU) when the key is in the ACC or RUN position and voltage at all times through circuit SBB18 (YE/RD). Ground is supplied to the roof opening sliding glass panel motor and roof opening panel switch through circuit GD133 (BK). When the roof opening panel TILT switch is pressed, the roof opening panel switch supplies a ground signal to the sliding glass panel motor through circuits CPR38 (WH/BU) and CPR31 (VT/BN), which causes the roof opening sliding glass panel to move to the VENT position. When the roof opening panel TILT switch is pulled, the roof opening panel switch supplies a ground signal to the sliding glass panel motor through circuits CPR38 (WH/BU) and CPR40 (YE/OG), which causes the roof opening sliding glass panel to move towards the CLOSED position or until the switch is released.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Roof opening panel switch
- Roof opening sliding glass panel motor
- Roof opening sliding glass panel motor not initialized

PINPOINT TEST F: THE ROOF OPENING PANEL DOES NOT OPEN OR CLOSE IN THE VENT POSITION

NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

NOTE: Both the power sliding glass motor and the power shade motor must be the same build level. For information on the build level of the motor, refer to the removal and installation of that motor.

NOTE: The jumper wiring harness is different on the older level (black and silver) and the newer level (blue and white) motors. They are not interchangeable. Make sure to match the jumper wiring harness with the correct level of motor.

-------------------------------------------------
F1 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR FOR INITIALIZATION

- Carry out the roof opening panel motor initialization procedure. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization Programming and Relearning.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
GO to F2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The roof opening panel motor was not initialized.

-------------------------------------------------
F2 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL SWITCH

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Switch C9001.
- Carry out the roof opening panel switch component test.

- Did the roof opening panel switch pass the component test?

Yes
GO to F3.

No
INSTALL a new roof opening panel switch. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Control Switch Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
F3 CHECK CIRCUIT CPR38 (WH/BU) FOR AN OPEN

- Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Motor Assembly C920.
- Measure the resistance between roof opening panel switch C9001-6, circuit CPR38 (WH/BU), harness side and roof opening panel motor assembly C920-6, circuit CPR38 (WH/BU) harness side.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to F4.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
F4 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR WIRING HARNESS

- Check the roof opening panel motor wiring harness for loose pins, an open or a short between roof opening panel motor assembly C920-6, circuit CPR38, component side and the roof opening panel motor wiring harness socket.
- Is the roof opening panel motor wiring harness OK?

Yes
GO to F5.

No
INSTALL a new roof opening panel motor wiring harness. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Motor Wiring Harness Service and Repair. INITIALIZE the roof opening panel motor. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization Programming and Relearning. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
F5 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING SLIDING GLASS PANEL MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

- Disconnect all roof opening panel motor connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- bent or pushed-out pins.
- Connect all roof opening panel motor connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new roof opening sliding glass panel motor. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Motor - Sliding Front Panel Roof Opening Panel Motor - Sliding Front Panel. INITIALIZE the roof opening panel motor. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization Programming and Relearning. TEST the system for normal operation.
