Pinpoint Test J: The Odometer Is Inoperative
Normal Operation
The odometer is displayed in the message center display area of the Instrument Cluster (IC). The IC receives the rolling count data from the PCM over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus.
If the IC rolling count data is missing for less than 5 seconds or invalid for less than 2 seconds, the IC displays the last known total odometer or trip odometer mileage. If the IC does not receive the rolling count data from the PCM for 5 seconds or is invalid for 2 seconds, the IC defaults the odometer to dashes (-----) and sets DTC U0100 and defaults the speedometer to 0 km/h (0 mph).
NOTE: If DTC U0100 is set in the IC, other observable symptoms may be an inoperative speedometer, temperature gauge or tachometer.
- DTC B2143 (NVM Memory Failure) - a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the IC Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) is corrupted. If the IC determines the NVM to be corrupt, the IC sets DTC B2143 and displays ERROR in the message center display area.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
