Pinpoint Test H: The Roof Opening Panel Does Not Operate Correctly - Slow Glass Panel Operation

Normal Operation

When the roof opening panel glass is operating correctly, the glass panel should move from the fully open position to the fully closed position within 12 seconds.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Binding or foreign material in the guide or tracks
- Binding or foreign material in the roof opening panel guide tracks
- Roof opening sliding glass panel motor block and drive tube assembly



PINPOINT TEST H: THE ROOF OPENING PANEL DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY - SLOW GLASS PANEL OPERATION

H1 VERIFY THE SLIDING GLASS PANEL OPERATION


- Start the engine.
- Open the roof opening sliding glass panel.
- Monitor the amount of time it takes to close the roof opening glass panel to the fully closed position.
- Does the roof opening glass panel move to the fully closed position in less than 12 seconds?

Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to H2.

H2 CLEAN THE IDLER TRACKS AND MECHANISMS AND RETEST OPERATION


- Remove the idler track mechanisms. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Idler Track Mechanism.
- Using denatured alcohol or a non-abrasive mild detergent with warm water and a soft brush, clean the idler mechanism guide feet and pins. Refer to Roof Opening Panel - Exploded View.
- Using denatured alcohol or a non-abrasive mild detergent with warm water and a soft cloth, clean the idler tracks of all debris along the length of the track.
- Install the idler track mechanisms and the roof opening sliding glass panel.
- Start the engine.
- Open the roof opening sliding glass panel.
- Monitor the amount of time it takes to close the roof opening glass panel to the fully closed position.
- Does the roof opening glass panel move to the fully closed position in less than 12 seconds?

Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern was caused by debris in the idler track and/or mechanisms. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
Small amounts of PTFE Lubricant or Silicone Spray Lubricant is permissible to use as a means to reduce friction and improve moving glass panel operation. If the glass panel operation is still slow after lubricating the track surfaces, CHECK the roof opening sliding glass panel motor block and drive tube assemblies for correct installation, damage or debris. REPAIR or REINSTALL as necessary. REFER to Roof Opening Panel - Exploded View Roof Opening Panel - Exploded View, Roof Opening Panel Motor Block and Drive Tube Assembly - Sliding Front Panel Roof Opening Panel Motor Block and Drive Tube Assembly - Sliding Front Panel. TEST the system for normal operation.
