Removal and Installation

WARNING: Always disconnect the battery ground cable at the battery when working on an evaporative emission (EVAP) system or fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.

3. Remove the 3 bolts, pin-type retainer and the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) shield.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

4. NOTE: Clean the EVAP canister vent solenoid electrical connector and the immediate surrounding area of any dirt or foreign material.

Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid electrical connector.

5. Disconnect the 2 fuel vapor tubes from the EVAP canister vent solenoid/dust separator.

6. Depress the tab and remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid/dust separator from the EVAP canister bracket.

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
