Instrument Cluster and Panel Illumination

NOTE: The Smart Junction Box (SJB) is also known as the Generic Electronic Module (GEM).

The Instrument Cluster (IC) and panel illumination is used to provide backlighting to the instrument panel, switches, and control components when the parking lamps are on, and the ambient light sensor status senses or equals night. The level of intensity for the dimmable illumination is adjustable by rotating the instrument panel dimmer switch either up to increase intensity or down to decrease intensity.

The IC and panel illumination system consists of both dimmable and non-dimmable (fixed) illumination sources.

The dimmable backlighting system provides backlighting to the following components:

- Audio Control Module (ACM)
- Adjustable pedal switch (if equipped)
- Auxiliary climate control (if equipped)
- HVAC module
- Floor shifter
- Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) mode select switch (if equipped)
- Headlamp switch
- Heated seat switch (if equipped)
- IC
- Message center switch (if equipped)
- Memory set switch (if equipped)
- Traction control switch
- Steering wheel switches

The fixed backlighting system consists of the following component:

- Window control switches
- Door lock control switches
- Heated mirror switch
- Roof opening panel control switch (overhead console)
