Normal Operation

Battery voltage is supplied to the heated seat module on circuit SBP40 (VT/RD) and ground on circuit GD134 (BK/VT). Ground is supplied to the RH heated seat switch on circuit GD139 (BK/YE). The heated seat switch supplies a momentary ground signal to the heated seat module on high heat request circuit CHS50 (BU/GY) or low heat request circuit CHS51 (YE/GY) when pressed on and off. The heated seat module supplies voltage to the cushion heater mat on circuit CHS43 (GY/BU) to heat the seat. The heated seat module monitors a temperature sensor in the cushion heater mat on circuit VHS45 (GY/BN) to regulate the seat temperature. The cushion and backrest heater mats are connected in series by circuit CHS44 (GN/VT) and ground is supplied to the backrest heater mat on circuit GD139 (BK/YE). The heated seat module is designed to remain on and maintain seat temperature until switched off or ignition is OFF.

A new heated seat module must be configured after installation for correct operation. To configure, press the low heat mode button on either rear heated seat switch. Module configuration will occur automatically after the low heat mode button is pressed. Until the module is correctly configured, the heated seats will operate incorrectly when selecting the high heat mode by following a sequence of high, low and off with each button press. The system will operate correctly after the heated seat module receives a low heat request on either of the low heat request circuits and rear heated seat module configuration is activated.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Fuse
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Heater mat
- Heated seat switch
- Heated seat module
