Pinpoint Test AC: The Traction Control Message Center Indicator Is Never/Always On

Normal Operation

The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives the traction control data from the ABS module over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus. The traction control message center indicator flashes when the vehicle traction control is in active mode or is being controlled by the ABS module. The traction control message center indicator flashes when the vehicles traction control is in active mode or is being controlled by the ABS module. The IC monitors the traction control message and when the ABS module detects a traction control concern, the IC illuminates the traction control message center indicator.

If the traction control message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IC defaults the traction control message center indicator to the last on/off state, based upon the last known good traction control status message received.

If the traction control message is missing for more than 5 seconds, the IC sets DTC U0121 in continuous memory and defaults the traction control message center indicator on.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Traction control concern
- Message center concern
- ABS module

PINPOINT TEST AC: THE TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE CENTER INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

NOTE: When a MyKey(TM) programmed key is in use and the AdvanceTrac(R) on feature is configured always on, the traction control system cannot be disabled and the traction control message center indicator does not turn on when the traction control disable button is pressed. The traction control message center indicator still functions normally to indicate a traction control system fault and a traction control active event.
