Pinpoint Test BE: An Off-Road Mode Message Is Never/Always On (Raptor Only)

Normal Operation

The message center displays off-road mode messages to inform the driver that they have entered or exited various states of the off-road mode function. The off road mode feature is activated by a switch located on the center console. A light illuminates on the button when the feature is activated. During off-road mode the standard vehicle speed thresholds for the Electronic Locking Differential (ELD) are lifted and the AdvanceTrac(R) settings are altered for optimized off-road driving. The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives the off-road mode signal from the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus.

If the off-road mode message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IC defaults the applicable off-road mode message center indicator to the last on/off state, based upon the last known good ABS status message received.

If the off-road mode status message is missing for greater than 5 seconds, the IC sets DTC U0102 and defaults the applicable off-road mode message center indicator off.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- TCCM
- Message center concern
