Pinpoint Test B: A Single Power Window is Inoperative - LH Front

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

Under normal operation, voltage is supplied to the LH front window control switch from the accessory delay relay through circuit CBP47 (GN/BU). Ground is supplied to the LH front window control switch through circuit GD134 (BK/VT). When the LH front window control switch is pressed, voltage is provided to the LH front window motor through circuit CPW10 (YE/VT) and ground through CPW11 (BU/GY) to operate the LH front window downward. When the LH front window control switch is pulled, voltage is provided to the LH front window motor through circuit CPW11 (BU/GY) and ground through CPW10 (YE/VT) to operate the LH front window upward. The one-touch down feature electronics are integral to the LH front window control switch.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- LH front window control switch
- LH front window motor

PINPOINT TEST B: A SINGLE POWER WINDOW IS INOPERATIVE - LH FRONT

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
B1 CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW DOWN OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504 (regular cab) or C535A and C535B (SuperCab or SuperCrew).
- Ignition ON.
- For regular cab, connect a fused jumper wire between LH front window control switch C504-5, circuit CBP47 (GN/BU), harness side and C504-1, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side; and a second fused jumper wire between LH front window control switch C504-2, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side and C504-4, circuit GD134 (BK/VT), harness side. The LH front window should operate in the downward direction.

- For SuperCab or SuperCrew, connect a fused jumper wire between LH front window control switch C535A-4, circuit CBP47 (GN/BU), harness side and C535A-2, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side; and a second fused jumper wire between LH front window control switch C535A-6, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side and C535B-3, circuit GD134 (BK/VT), harness side. The LH front window should operate in the downward direction.

- Does the LH front window operate in the downward direction?

Yes
GO to B2.

No
GO to B3.

-------------------------------------------------
B2 CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW UP OPERATION

- For regular cab, connect a fused jumper wire between LH front window control switch C504-5, circuit CBP47 (GN/BU), harness side and C504-2, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side; and a second fused jumper wire between LH front window control switch C504-1, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side and C504-4, circuit GD134 (BK/VT), harness side. The LH front window should operate in the upward direction.

- For SuperCab or SuperCrew, connect a fused jumper wire between LH front window control switch C535A-4, circuit CBP47 (GN/BU), harness side and C535A-6, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side; and a second fused jumper wire between LH front window control switch C535A-2, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side and C535B-3, circuit GD134 (BK/VT), harness side. The LH front window should operate in the upward direction.

- Does the LH front window operate in the upward direction?

Yes
INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch - Front Window Control Switch - Front. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to B3.

-------------------------------------------------
B3 CHECK CIRCUIT CPW10 (YE/VT) FOR AN OPEN

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Motor C524.
- Measure the resistance between LH front window motor C524-1, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side and LH front window control switch C504-1 (regular cab) or C535A-2 (SuperCab or SuperCrew), circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to B4.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
B4 CHECK CIRCUIT CPW11 (BU/GY) FOR AN OPEN

- Measure the resistance between LH front window motor C524-2, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side and LH front window control switch C504-2 (regular cab) or C535A-6 (SuperCab or SuperCrew), circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
INSTALL a new LH front window motor. REFER to Window Regulator Motor Window Regulator Motor. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
