Pinpoint Test AT: The DRIVE TO CLEAN EXHAUST SYSTEM, CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER , EXHAUST FILTER DRIVE COMPLETE or REDUCED ENGINE POWER Warning Is Inoperative/Always On

Normal Operation

The DRIVE TO CLEAN EXHAUST SYSTEM warning informs the driver that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) requires a vehicle drive cycle to clean the DPF. The CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER display informs the driver that the PCM is in the DPF cleaning cycle. The EXHAUST FILTER DRIVE COMPLETE display informs the driver that the DPF cleaning cycle is complete. The REDUCED ENGINE POWER warning informs the driver that the PCM has reduced the engine power due to DPF concern or the vehicle is in a DPF cleaning cycle.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- PCM concern
- Instrument Cluster (IC)



PINPOINT TEST AT: THE DRIVE TO CLEAN EXHAUST SYSTEM, CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER , EXHAUST FILTER DRIVE COMPLETE OR REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING IS INOPERATIVE/ALWAYS ON

AT1 CONFIRM THE DOOR AJAR WARNING MESSAGE OPERATION


- Ignition ON.
- Open the driver door while monitoring the message center displays.
- Is the DRIVER FRONT DOOR AJAR warning displayed?

Yes
GO to AT2.

No
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.

AT2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST


- Check for recorded PCM DTCs from the Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes
If the DRIVE TO CLEAN EXHAUST SYSTEM, CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER, EXHAUST FILTER DRIVE COMPLETE or REDUCED ENGINE POWER warning is always on, REFER to Computers and Control Systems Information.

If the DRIVE TO CLEAN EXHAUST SYSTEM, CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER, EXHAUST FILTER DRIVE COMPLETE or REDUCED ENGINE POWER warning is never on, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to AT3.

AT3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IC SELF-TEST


- Check for recorded IC DTCs from the self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes
For DTC U0100, GO to Pinpoint Test BD. Pinpoint Tests BD: DTC U0100

For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Charts. Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes

No
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.
