Thermostatic Expansion Valve Manifold and Tube Assembly













Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

2. Recover the refrigerant.

3. Detach the brake booster vacuum hose retainer from the strut tower brace.





4. NOTE: RH side of cross-vehicle beam shown, LH similar.

Remove the 4 nuts and the strut tower brace.

- To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).





3.5L vehicles

5. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

6. Remove the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge valve. For additional information, refer to Evaporative Emissions System.

7. Detach the wire harness retainer clip from the valve cover stud.





3.5L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) vehicles

8. Remove the cowl panel grille.

9. Disconnect the 2 PCM electrical connectors.





10. Detach the wiring harness retainer and disconnect the electrical connector.





11. Remove the engine wiring harness retainer from the bulkhead.

1. Push the wiring harness retainer tab in.

2. Slide the wiring harness up and out of the bulkhead.





All vehicles

12. Detach the routing clip pin-type retainer from the Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) manifold and tube bracket.

13. Remove the evaporator outlet line fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
- Discard the O-ring seal and gasket seal.

- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).

14. Detach the evaporator inlet line clip at the coolant bottle.

15. Remove the receiver/drier outlet fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
- Discard the O-ring seal and gasket seal.

- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).

16. Remove the TXV manifold and tube bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).

17. Completely loosen the TXV manifold and tube clamp bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

18. Remove the TXV fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
- Discard the O-ring seals.

- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

19. Remove the TXV manifold and tube assembly.

20. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new gasket seals and O-ring seals.

- Add the correct amount of clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system.

21. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system.
