Pinpoint Test C: A Single Power Window is Inoperative - RH Front Window

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

For coupe only, the RH front window control switch receives power through circuit SBP47 (WH/RD). For sedan only, the RH front window control switch receives power from the LH front window control switch through CPW14 (VT/WH) when the lockout switch is in the UNLOCK position. The RH front window control switch provides power to the RH front window motor through circuit CPW19 (VT) and ground through circuit CPW20 (WH/OG) to operate the RH front window down; and power through circuit CPW20 (WH/OG) and ground through circuit CPW19 (VT) to operate the RH front window up.

When operating the RH front window using the LH front window control switch, power is sent to the RH front window control switch through circuit CPW12 (GN/OG) and ground through circuit CPW13 (BN/YE) to operate the RH front window down; and power through circuit CPW13 (BN/YE) and ground through circuit CPW12 (GN/OG) to operate the RH front window up.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- LH front window control switch
- RH front window control switch
- RH front window motor

PINPOINT TEST C: A SINGLE POWER WINDOW IS INOPERATIVE - RH FRONT WINDOW

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
C1 CHECK THE RH FRONT WINDOW OPERATION FROM THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH

- Ignition ON.
- Operate the RH front window from the LH front window control switch.
- Does the RH front window operate from the LH front window control switch?

Yes
GO to C2.

No
GO to C3.

-------------------------------------------------
C2 CHECK CIRCUIT SBP47 (WH/RD) OR CPW14 (VT/WH) FOR VOLTAGE

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RH Front Window Control Switch C604.
- Ignition ON.
- NOTE: Set the LH window control switch to the UNLOCK position.
- Measure the voltage between RH front window control switch C604-3, circuit SBP47 (WH/RD) (coupe) or CPW14 (VT/WH) (sedan), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
INSTALL a new RH front window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C3 CHECK CIRCUITS CPW20 (WH/OG) AND CPW19 (VT) FOR VOLTAGE AND GROUND

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RH Front Window Motor C608.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between RH front window motor C608-1, circuit CPW20 (WH/OG), harness side and RH front window motor C608-2, circuit CPW19 (VT), harness side while operating the RH front window control switch in the down then up positions.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts when the switch is in the DOWN position; and greater than -10 volts when the switch is in the UP position?

Yes
INSTALL a new window regulator motor. REFER to Window Regulator Motor - Front Door Window Regulator Motor - Front Door. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to C4.

-------------------------------------------------
C4 CHECK THE RH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: RH Front Window Control Switch C604.
- Carry out the window control switch component test on the RH front window control switch.

- Did the RH front window control switch pass the component test?

Yes
GO to C5.

No
INSTALL a new RH front window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C5 CHECK CIRCUITS CPW20 (WH/OG) AND CPW19 (VT) FOR AN OPEN

- Measure the resistance between RH front window control switch C604, harness side and RH front window motor C608, harness side, using the following chart:

- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to C6.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C6 CHECK CIRCUITS CPW20 (WH/OG) AND CPW19 (VT) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

- Measure the resistance between RH front window control switch C604-5, circuit CPW20 (WH/OG), harness side and ground; and between RH front window control switch C604-2, circuit CPW19 (VT), harness side and ground.

- Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
GO to C7.

No
REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C7 CHECK CIRCUITS CPW12 (GN/OG) AND CPW13 (BN/YE) FOR AN OPEN

- Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504A.
