Pinpoint Test B: DTC B1305:01
When the alarm system is armed, the Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the hood switch. If the hood is opened while the alarm is armed, the hood switch removes ground from the signal circuit. This signals the BCM (Body Control Module) that an unauthorized intrusion to the engine compartment has occurred and the BCM (Body Control Module) activates the perimeter alarm.
- DTC B1305:01 (Hood Switch: General Electrical Failure)- set by the BCM (Body Control Module) if it detects an open on the hood switch sense circuit. This DTC also sets if the hood is open during a BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Hood switch
- BCM (Body Control Module)
PINPOINT TEST B : DTC B1305:01
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
B1 CHECK THE HOOD SWITCH
- Disconnect: Hood Switch C127.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between the hood switch C127-1, circuit CPL25 (BU/OG), harness side and the hood switch C127-2, circuit GD123 (BK/GY), harness side.
- Clear the Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs.
- Repeat the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Is the BCM (Body Control Module) DTC B1305: 01 retrieved?
Yes
REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to B2.
No
REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new hood switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
B2 CHECK THE HOOD SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT
- Connect a fused jumper wire between the hood switch C127-1, circuit CPL25 (BU/OG), harness side and ground.
- Clear the BCM (Body Control Module) DTCs.
- Repeat the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Is the BCM (Body Control Module) DTC B1305: 01 retrieved?
Yes
GO to B3.
No
REPAIR circuit GD123 (BK/GY) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
B3 CHECK THE HOOD SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT TO THE BCM (Body Control Module) FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280F.
- Measure the resistance between the hood switch C127-1, circuit CPL25 (BU/OG), harness side and the BCM (Body Control Module) C2280F-2, circuit CPL25 (BU/OG), harness side and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to B4.
No
REPAIR circuit CPL25 (BU/OG) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
B4 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION
- Disconnect all the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new BCM (Body Control Module). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
