Body Control Module (BCM)

Body Control Module (BCM)

Removal

NOTE: Prior to the replacement of the module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the appropriate scan tool. This information must be downloaded into the new module after installation. For additional information, refer to Information Bus.

For vehicles without Intelligent Access (IA), verify at least 2 of the vehicle keys are available prior to carrying out this procedure.

1. NOTE: This step is necessary only if the BCM (Body Control Module) is being replaced.
Upload the module configuration information from the BCM (Body Control Module) into the scan tool. For additional information, refer to Information Bus.

2. Remove the driver door scuff plate.

3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

4. Remove the harness pushpin from the BCM (Body Control Module).

5. Remove the nut.

6. Lower the BCM (Body Control Module) (release the BCM (Body Control Module) from the 2 alignment holes).

7. Press the black tang inward to release the B+ connector from the BCM (Body Control Module).

8. Remove the BCM (Body Control Module).

Installation

All Vehicles

1. Install the B+ connector onto the BCM (Body Control Module).

2. Position the 2 BCM (Body Control Module) alignment tabs into the 2 holes and install the nut.
- Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

3. Install the harness pushpin into the BCM (Body Control Module).

4. Connect the electrical connectors.

5. NOTE: If the BCM (Body Control Module) was not replaced, this is the last step that is necessary.
Install the driver door scuff plate.

Vehicles without Intelligent Access (IA)

6. Program the IKTs (Integrated Keyhead Transmitters) (minimum of 2) into the new BCM (Body Control Module). For additional information, refer to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment in Antitheft and Alarm Systems Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment.

7. Carry out parameter reset between the BCM (Body Control Module) and PCM. For additional information, refer to Parameter Reset Antitheft and Alarm Systems. Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)

Vehicles with Intelligent Access (IA)

NOTE: If a new BCM (Body Control Module) is installed, the ignition does not turn on until a parameter reset is performed between the BCM (Body Control Module) and Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module.

8. Carry out the parameter resets. For additional information, refer to Parameter Reset Antitheft and Alarm Systems. Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)
1. Carry out the parameter reset between the BCM (Body Control Module) and RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module. Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)

2. Turn the ignition ON.

3. Carry out the parameter reset between the BCM (Body Control Module) and PCM. Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)

9. Carry out the keyless entry keypad code reset. For additional information, refer to Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming in Doors, Hood and Trunk &/or Locks. Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming

All Vehicles

10. Turn the ignition ON.

11. NOTE: Once the BCM (Body Control Module) Programmable Module Installation (PMI) is complete, follow the scan tool on-screen instructions for performing the Configurable Engine Immobilizer (CEI) Lock Configuration.
Download the BCM (Body Control Module) configuration information from the scan tool to the new BCM (Body Control Module). For additional information, refer to Information Bus.

12. Train the tire pressure sensors.

13. NOTE: If the dome lamps are flashing after BCM (Body Control Module) installation, it was not configured completely. Repeat steps 6 through 13.
Carry out the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test to confirm all DTCs have been cleared.
