Remote Function Actuator (RFA) Module
Removal
NOTE: If a new Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module is installed, verify at least 2 of the vehicle keys are available prior to carrying out this procedure.
NOTE: If a new Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module is installed, the ignition does not turn on until a parameter reset is performed and 2 keys are programmed.
1. NOTE: This step is only necessary if the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module is being replaced.
Upload the module configuration information from the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module. For additional information, refer to Information Bus.
2. Remove the glove compartment.
3. Disconnect the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module electrical connectors.
4. Remove the 2 nuts and the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module.
Installation
1. Position the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module onto the studs and install the 2 nuts.
2. Connect the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module electrical connectors.
3. NOTE: If the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module was not replaced, this is the last step that is necessary.
Install the glove compartment.
4. Carry out the parameter reset between the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module and the Body Control Module (BCM). For additional information, refer to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset in Antitheft and Alarm Systems. Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)
5. Program the Intelligent Access (IA) keys (minimum of 2) into the new RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module. For additional information, refer to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment in Antitheft and Alarm Systems Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment.
6. Turn the ignition ON.
7. Carry out the keyless entry keypad code reset. For additional information, refer to Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming in Doors, Hood and Trunk &/or Locks Keyless Entry Keypad Code Programming.
8. Download the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module configuration information from the scan tool into the new RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module.
9. Carry out the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module self-test to confirm all DTCs have been cleared.
