Pinpoint Test M: The Delayed Accessory Does Not Turn Off

Normal Operation

The accessory delay relay is located in the Body Control Module (BCM). When the ignition is in the ON position, the BCM (Body Control Module) activates the accessory delay relay by grounding the relay coil. When the ignition is turned to the OFF position, the BCM (Body Control Module) continues to ground the accessory delay relay coil for approximately 10 minutes, or until a front door is opened. When the accessory delay relay is active, it supplies voltage to the power window system.

- DTC B131A:14 (Delayed Accessory Power: Circuit Short To Ground or Open)- sets when the BCM (Body Control Module) senses an open or short to ground on the accessory delay relay control circuit.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Accessory delay relay

- Wiring, terminals or connectors

- BCM (Body Control Module)

PINPOINT TEST M : THE DELAYED ACCESSORY DOES NOT TURN OFF

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

M1 CHECK FOR STUCK/STICKING ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY

- Disconnect: Accessory Delay Relay.

- Attempt to operate the power windows.

Do the power windows still operate?

Yes
GO to M3.

No
GO to M2.

M2 CHECK THE ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY

- Carry out the accessory delay relay component test.

Did the accessory delay relay pass the component test.

Yes
GO to M4.

No
INSTALL a new accessory delay relay. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.

M3 CHECK THE ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280D.

- Ignition ON.

- Measure the voltage between BCM (Body Control Module) C2280D-27, circuit CBP01 (BU), harness side and ground; and between BCM (Body Control Module) C2280D-17 circuit CBP32 (BU), harness side and ground.

Is any voltage present?

Yes
REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to M4.

M4 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION

- Disconnect all the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors.

- Check for:
- corrosion.

- pushed-out pins.

- Connect all the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.

- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new BCM (Body Control Module). TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
