Pinpoint Test Y: The Power Seat is Inoperative - Third Row Power-Fold, Left and Right Seats
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 120, Power Seats for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
Voltage is supplied to the power-fold seat relay coil from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) on circuit CPS48 (BU) and ground on circuit GD151 (BK/GN) to energize the relay and enable the system. The SJB only supplies voltage to circuit CPS48 (BU) when the transmission selector is in PARK. The SJB disables the system after 10 minutes when the ignition is OFF. The SJB re-enables the system for 10 minutes if any door, liftgate or liftgate glass is opened or by pressing the unlock button on the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.
Battery voltage is supplied to the power-fold seat relay on circuit SBB70 (BN/RD). When energized, the power-fold seat relay outputs voltage to the left and right third row seat control switches on circuit SBB32 (VT/RD). Ground is supplied to the seat control switches on circuit GD151 (BK/GN). The seat control switches supply voltage and ground to the power-fold seat motors to operate the seats.
- DTC B2794 (Third Row Power Fold Circuit Failure) - If SJB output to the power-fold seat relay is open or shorted to voltage, the SJB disables the output and the DTC is set.
- DTC B2A2D (Third Row Power Fold Circuit Short To Ground) - If SJB output to the power-fold seat relay is shorted to ground, the SJB disables the output and the DTC is set.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Fuse
- Power-fold seat relay
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- SJB
PINPOINT TEST Y: THE POWER SEAT IS INOPERATIVE - THIRD ROW POWER-FOLD, LEFT AND RIGHT SEATS
-------------------------------------------------
Y1 CHECK FOR SJB DTCs
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - SJB.
- Are any SJB DTCs present?
Yes
If DTC B2794, GO to Y5.
If DTC B2A2D, VERIFY SJB fuse 5 (10A) is OK. GO to Y8.
For all other SJB DTCs, REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart.
No
GO to Y2.
-------------------------------------------------
Y2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE POWER-FOLD SEAT RELAY
- Disconnect: Power-Fold Seat Relay.
- Measure the voltage between power-fold seat relay terminal 3, circuit SBB70 (BN/RD), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to Y3.
No
VERIFY Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuse 70 (40A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. Diagrams By Number
-------------------------------------------------
Y3 CHECK THE POWER-FOLD SEAT RELAY
- Carry out the component test on the power-fold seat relay.
Refer to Wiring Diagrams for component testing. Diagrams By Number
- Did the relay pass the component test?
Yes
GO to Y4.
No
INSTALL a new power-fold seat relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
Y4 CHECK THE POWER-FOLD SEAT RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Left Third Row Seat Control Switch C4179.
- Measure the resistance between power-fold seat relay terminal 5, circuit SBB32 (VT/RD), harness side and left third row seat control switch C4179 pin 2, circuit SBB32 (VT/RD), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
Y5 CHECK THE SJB OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: SJB C2280C.
