Pinpoint Test AM: The 4X4 SHIFT IN PROGRESS Warning Is Inoperative
Normal Operation
The 4X4 control module sends the Instrument Cluster (IC) a message over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus lines when the Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) system is in the process of shifting out of 2-Wheel Drive (2WD) and has not yet fully shifted into 4x4 high, 4x4 low or 4x4 auto. Once the shift is completed, the 4X4 control module removes the 4x4 shift in progress message and sends a new message to turn on the applicable message center indicator.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- IC configuration
- 4WD system
- 4X4 control module
- IC
PINPOINT TEST AM: THE 4X4 SHIFT IN PROGRESS WARNING IS INOPERATIVE
-------------------------------------------------
AM1 VERIFY THAT THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH 4WD
- Check to confirm that the vehicle is equipped with 4WD.
- Is the vehicle equipped with 4WD?
Yes
GO to AM2.
No
The message center does not provide the 4X4 SHIFT IN PROGRESS warning.
-------------------------------------------------
AM2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IC SELF-TEST
NOTE: The IC must be configured for 4WD for the 4x4 features to be displayed in the message center. 4WD configuration is not a customer preference item and must be configured as part of the PMI. If the IC is not configured correctly, DTC B2477 sets and the PMI procedure must be repeated to accurately configure the IC for parking aid.
- Retrieve the recorded DTCs from the IC self-test.
- Is DTC B2477 retrieved?
Yes
CARRY OUT the PMI procedure for the IC. REFER to Module Configuration Programmable Module Installation (PMI).
No
GO to AM3.
-------------------------------------------------
AM3 CHECK THE 4WD SYSTEM
- Operate the vehicle in 4WD and verify that the vehicle shifts from 2WD to 4WD correctly.
- Does the 4WD system shift correctly from 2WD to 4WD?
Yes
INSTALL a 4X4 control module. REFER to Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Systems . TEST the system for normal operation.
If the 4X4 SHIFT IN PROGRESS warning message still does not operate, INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.
