Removal

NOTICE: If the engine is repaired or replaced because of upper engine failure, typically including valve or piston damage, check the intake manifold for metal debris. If metal debris is found, install a new intake manifold. Failure to follow these instructions can result in engine damage.

1. Remove the engine appearance cover.

2. Remove the ACL (Air Cleaner) outlet pipe. REFER to Intake Air System Components - Exploded View [1][2]Diagrams.

3. Disconnect the EVAP (Evaporative Emission) canister vent solenoid and throttle body electrical connectors.

1. Detach the 2 wiring harness pin-type retainers (1 shown).

4. Disconnect the EVAP (Evaporative Emission) vapor tube from the EVAP (Evaporative Emission) canister vent solenoid and position aside. REFER to Quick Connect Coupling Quick Connect Coupling.

5. Release the clamp and disconnect the power brake booster vacuum supply hose from the intake manifold.

6. Detach the 2 wiring harness/coolant tube retainers from the upper intake manifold.

7. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve. REFER to Quick Connect Coupling Quick Connect Coupling.

8. Remove the upper intake manifold support bracket bolt.

9. Remove the 7 bolts and the upper intake manifold.

1. Remove and discard the gasket.

2. Clean and inspect all of the sealing surfaces of the upper and lower intake manifold.

Installation

1. Using a new gasket, install the intake manifold and the 7 bolts.

1. Tighten in the sequence shown in 2 stages.
