Diagnostic Overview

One Or More Switch Or Component Illumination Is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 71, Cluster and Panel Illumination for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Dimmable Backlighting Instrument Cluster and Panel Illumination.

REFER to Non-Dimmable Backlighting Instrument Cluster and Panel Illumination.

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

- Verify the operation of the power door locks from the door lock control switches.

- Verify the operation of the power windows from the window control switches.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE BACKLIGHTING VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: Inoperative Illumination Source.

3. Ignition ON.

4. Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps on position.

5. Using the instrument panel dimmer switch, change the dimmable backlighting to its brightest setting.

6. Measure:





Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
