3.5L ALL WHEEL DRIVE (AWD) TERRAIN
MANAGEMENT INOPERATIVE - BUILT ON OR
BEFORE 7/30/2012

FORD:
2011-2013 Explorer

ISSUE
Some 2011-2013 Explorer vehicles equipped with a
3.5L engine, AWD and built on or before 7/30/2012
may exhibit an inoperative Terrain Management.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Reprogram the Anti-Lock Brake (ABS) module to the latest calibration using IDS release 80.02 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2012.7 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.

2. Perform Interactive Vehicle Dynamics (IVD) initialization using IDS.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.
