14. Remove the front wheels. REFER to Wheel and Tire Removal and Replacement.

15. Remove the 2 lower retainers from the RH (Right Hand) fender splash shield.

16. Remove the 3 twist lock retainers and the underbody air duct.

17. Remove the transmission fluid drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain.

18. Install the transmission fluid drain plug.

- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

19. Remove the LH (Left Hand) and RH (Right Hand) halfshaft. REFER to Halfshaft - LH Halfshaft - LH and REFER to Halfshaft - RH, All Wheel Drive (AWD) Halfshaft - RH.

20. NOTE: LH (Left Hand) shown, RH (Right Hand) similar.

Inspect the halfshaft hub for wear or damage and install a new halfshaft if necessary.

1. Inspect the seal surface.

2. Inspect the bearing surface. If this surface is damaged, inspect the halfshaft bushing for damage.

3. Inspect the differential side gear splines.

21. NOTE: RH (Right Hand) shown LH (Left Hand) similar.

Remove the upper stabilizer link nuts and remove the stabilizer bar links from the struts.

22. NOTE: The hex-holding feature can be used to prevent turning of the stud while installing the nuts.

NOTE: RH (Right Hand) shown LH (Left Hand) similar.

Remove the tie rod end nuts and remove the tie rod ends from the knuckles.

23. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe. REFER to Exhaust Y-Pipe Exhaust Y-Pipe.

24. Using a suitable tool, unlatch the cooler hose retainer latch. Using a suitable tool, pry up on the oil cooler hose retainer to release the retainer and remove it from the subframe.

25. NOTICE: Do not allow the intermediate shaft to rotate while it is disconnected from the gear or damage to the clockspring may occur. If there is evidence that the intermediate shaft has rotated, the clockspring must be removed and centered. REFER to Clockspring Service and Repair.

Remove and discard the bolt and separate the steering column shaft from the steering gear.

26. Remove the bolt and position the EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) heat shield aside.

27. Remove the EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) wiring harness bracket bolt.

28. Disconnect the 2 EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) electrical connectors.

- Remove the EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) wiring harness bracket pin-type retainer from the steering gear.

29. Remove the EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) wiring harness pin-type retainer from the steering gear.

30. Remove the PTU (Power Transfer Unit). REFER to Power Transfer Unit (PTU) Removal and Replacement.

31. Using 300-OTC1585AE support the subframe.
