Seat Recliner Motor

Removal

NOTE: For parts identification and location, refer to Seat - Exploded View, Front Seat - Exploded View, Front.

1. Remove the seat. For additional information, refer to Seat - Front Seat - Front.

2. For SuperCab with manual recliner, release the retainer and remove the handle.

3. Remove the side shield insert.
- Release the lower retainers and lift to release the upper retainers

- If equipped, disconnect the seat control switch electrical connector.

- If equipped, disconnect the memory SET switch electrical connector.

4. Remove the side shield.
- Remove the front and rear side shield screws.

- Pull the cushion side shield outward to release the retainers.

- Reinstall all retainers back to the side shield.

5. Release the backrest cover J-clip and unzip the 2 zippers.
- Route the J-clip between the seat cushion and backrest.

6. If equipped, remove the backrest Thermo-Electric Device (TED). For additional information, refer to Seat Backrest Thermo-Electric Device Seat Backrest Thermo-Electric Device.

7. If equipped, remove the power lumbar. For additional information, refer to Lumbar Assembly - Power Lumbar Assembly - Power.

8. If equipped, detach the manual adjustable lumbar from the backrest frame and position aside.
- Pinch the lumbar retainers together to release from the backrest frame.

- For installation, make sure the arrow is pointed up.

9. If equipped, disconnect the backrest heater mat electrical connector and detach the wire harness.

10. Push the backrest cover and foam pad away to gain access to the power recliner.

11. Remove the torque shaft retainer.

12. Remove the recline motor bolt.

13. Release the 2 clips (1 shown) and slide the sleeve back on the recliner torque shaft.





14. Remove the power recline motor.

1. Slide the recliner torque shaft assembly out of the recliner and remove the short torque shaft.

2. Remove the sleeve from the long torque shaft.

3. Slide the torque shaft out of the recline motor.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the power recline motor.





15. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- If a new power recliner motor has been installed on a driver seat with memory, operate the recliner in both directions through the full range of travel to allow the Driver Seat Module (DSM) to correctly register recliner stop positions and prevent premature stooping points after repair is complete.
